Road trips came into my life unexpectedly almost three years ago. First, I went on a road trip across Montenegro, Croatia, F.Y.R.O.M and Greece and the next year I travelled across Italy, France and Spain. I've dedicated several posts on Road Trip tips, on-the-road tips for mothers-to-be, while I've given you 10 reasons why you should go on a Road Trip. So, here is a complete list of all the essentials you'll be needing while on a Road Trip.
Summer Road Trips are probably the best.Yet, who can resist going on a fall adventure?

13 ROAD TRIP ESSENTIALS
1. GPS/ navigator
The first and by far the most important on your list. Make sure it has an updated version of maps and that it includes all the places you're planning on visiting.
Besides having an up-to-date GPS, make sure you have a copy of the area's maps on either a printed or a Pdf version in your phone or iPad.
Your phone, camera or anything else you need to capture every moment. PLUS, a power bank, chargers, as well as, a car charger and adaptors.
Cd, mp4 or usb stick – whichever you prefer, Music is an essential when it comes to a Road Trip. Make sure you have a variety of different music genres and of course, some lounge music to use for your Sunset Drive!
5. Healthy Snacks
I'd definitely suggest Gluten Free Bars and healthy snacks in general. Add a bottle of mineral water and you're good to go!
Hand Sanitizer and / or Wet Wipes will become your best friends while on the road since toilet facilities are hard to find. Toilet paper, tissues and other toiletries of the same kind are also a necessity.

8. Comfy clothes & Shoes
When it comes to shoes, avoid wearing any kind of flip flops, especially when driving. Prefer wearing comfortable shoes and clothes. You're going to be spending a lot of time sitting in the car – you'll need to be comfy.
9. First Aid / Emergency Kit
Another must-have. A small travel pharmacy kit is absolutely necessary when traveling.
10. Car Insurance / Driver's Lisence / Vehicle's Registration
Make sure you have all the necessary documents with you and that your car's insurance is valid.
11. International Motor Vehicle Insurance System
Also known as the Green Card System, it is an internationally recognized insurance for cars outside the country's frontier.
12. Car Check
Check the tires, air-conditioning and anything else important while making sure you have the spare items you might need when on the road.
13. The best company
No matter how many lists you'll prepare, how many items you'll be bringing with you or what you'll leave behind, the most important of all is having the best company. You'll be crossing thousands of miles together, you'll talk and then talk some more, you'll fight over losing the right turn, you'll laugh and make up and watch the most wonderful sunsets together. Choose wisely!
