#2. SIZE & WEIGHT
An equally important factor you should consider when picking a suitcase: its size and weight. For various reasons. First off, no one wants to carry an overweight suitcase when traveling. There is the risk of additional costs when carrying overweight baggage and consequently, you'll have to leave something behind to avoid being charged. Plus, a suitcase that weighs too much, is difficult to carry around when traveling. An empty suitcase may weigh up to 6 kilos - when it comes to those bulky plastic ones - which means you should be extremely careful when packing. Even a textile one may have plastic attachments or wheels that will add up to its overall weight.
My new fave, the Samsonite Cosmolite™, weighs only 2,5kg,made with the revolutionary Curv® technology,
well known for its high energy absorption, outstanding impact performance, especially at low temperatures.
A Red Shell I kinda love!
#3. THE LOCK
A secure suitcase equals a safe and pleasant trip. A Lock and a Name Tag are both essentials in order to achieve that.
Should you be the type of person which needs a different lock after each trip because your last one broke/was forgotten in a hotel room somewhere in the world/you forgot the key at home and you've already reached Madrid by the time you realised it, then you should definitely pick your suitcase with an embedded lock. It can't be broken, doesn't need a key and it is absolute safe for any frequent flyer or simply forgetful.
#4. THE WHEELS
#5. THE HANDLE
A great handle should be made out of a flexible material as it carries the weight of your entire suitcase when grabbing it. So, make sure you've tested it a few times before buying the suitcase to check whether it fits your hand correctly or not and if it is comfortable enough to carry.
#6. THE INTERIOR
When it comes to a suitcase's interior, I've been trained after all these years to spot all of its "secret" corners with just a blink.
Let me emphasize one more time on how important it is to roll your clothes in order to save space and have your suitcase looking as neat as your wardrobe does. No one ever wants to see a suitcase popping up open with all its interior bursting out into one hot mess! By creating outfit sets, you'll save up valuable space inside your suitcase for some on-the-go shopping. Notice any concealed interior space or zipped pockets that will help you better organise your belongings. Pack your shoes, accessories and cosmetics inside the top compartment and your clothing in the bottom one. Plus, make sure there's a functional elastic closs ribbon, to protect packed items and reduce wrinkles.
#7. THE WARRANTY
Is it too over-the-top to ask for my suitcase to come with a warranty? Well, be it a challenging item that goes through a lot, a suitcase should definitely have a warranty to make sure that you'll be covered in case of a setback. When investing on a suitcase, you technically "demand" to come with a warranty.
The longer the warranty, the better. You'll feel better to know that in case of a faulty part you'll have it replaced immediately.
#8. THE DESIGN
Your suitcase compliments your style in the best possible way when traveling - it reflects your personality and the way you like to travel. Like your bag, shoes and overall accessories, your suitcase makes the ultimate travel statement, adding a touch of style to your traveling life.
My Samsonite Cosmolite™ has a limited 10 years global warranty and it's super cool with awesome design!
