Traveling is my escape from everyday life and the best way to get inspired at the same time.
Having traveled to over 55 countries in less than 10 years, It would be accurate to say that the world out there feels like a second home to me.
Since traveling became an everyday routine, what keeps my passion alive are these incredibly inspiring travel movies that put me in the whole traveler's mentality all over again. Whether it's a movie about a literal trip or a mental one - the will to live and discover the world.
My favorite travel movies are the 5 listed below - but this doesn't mean I don't fall for something as simple as a single suitcase scene in a kid's movie. It's just that, these 5 truly inspired my passion for traveling and exploring the world.
#1. The Motorcycle Diaries
The most amazing and inspirational movie I've watched the past years. 2 students begin a roadtrip across Latin America on a motorcycle that lasts about 5 months. Combining both some adventurous moments and some of Latin America's most wonderful sites, this movie is an ode to human relations and bonds created through traveling.
#2. Into The Wild
Based on the true story of Christopher McCandless who denies a life full of luxury to live his dream, traveling across Alaska. "Travel is all about new experiences, good and bad" says him and I couldn't agree more; Traveling is all about finding yourself, expand your horizon, your view of the world. That's what this movie is all about.
#3. Up In The Air
Well, this movie could be my life. A life full of airports and hotels, collecting bonus points and packing and un-packing a suitcase every one or two days. George Clooney embodies the luxury, frequent traveler like no other!
#4. Tracks
Another movie based on a true story - the story of Robyn Davidson who bravely crossed 1.700 miles in the Australian desert with her only company a dog and 4 camels. A movie that inspired the solo travelers of the world.
#5. Eat, Pray, Love
Is Julia Roberts the most wonderful example of a woman solo traveler? She definitely is. Her character travels to Italy, India and Indonesia in a mission to find inner peace and happiness -a series of events and a non-stop mental journey change her whole world until she finds it.
Traveling means happiness - see why I identified myself with her?
