The latest trend around town and a mandatory activity to hit your schedule on a Sunday, if you wish to be considered "cool" and "in" - the Sunday brunch is much more than that. actually. It takes refined taste buds, an eye for detail and extra attention to the customer service provided to see the difference between an average and an excellent brunch.
I feel incredibly happy whenever invited to try out a new brunch. I may lack the skills of a chef or a food critic but my professional expertise on the fields of customer service, food styling and proper food serving allows me to appreciate any great meal. Everything from preparing for service to creating a friendly atmosphere with a good flow of energy, great people and a pleasant environment counts in order to make every guest's dining experience special.
So, I found myself at Brown's Restaurant in Divani Caravel right in the heart of Athens, to taste the brand new Brunch Menu. The new brunch concept hosted by Divani Caravel and sponsored by Veuve Clicquot Rich launched recently and I was so excited to try it out, since this is a concept that suits best a luxury hotel – think of the international influences on the F & B service and the excellent customer service.
I was so glad to have accepted the invitation. #Hotellife and #sundaybrunch combined? I couldn't have asked for more!
The modern brasserie philosophy behind Brown's adds an essence of luxury to the whole brunch experience. Besides having an amazing Sunday meal, you'll enjoy a glass of the finest Veuve Clicquot RIch under the sounds of the live music by Dj Yannis Sartzetakis - a pretty amazing "combo".
That's what makes a brunch great; having its very own character and excellent style.
The eggs benedict – one of my all-time favorite dishes – was an amazing choice: crispy bread and light sauce hollandaise make a dish to drool over. Same goes for the Shrimp Cocktail, which was equally amazing, refreshing, served with an incredible sauce (although I wish there was a hint of avocado to bring out the taste even more).
I wouldn't skip a reference to the pastries served; pancakes to swoon over and freshly-made waffles were the highlights of the day - even though I'm not into pastries for brunch. TheLemon Pie was by far the best thanks to its velvety texture and exquisite taste.
Last but not least, I would like to mention that a huge part of the successful brunch goes to the people behind it. The service was outstanding, provided without needless speed and with no mistakes made. It was a lovely Sunday Brunch, I was delighted to enjoy with great company, friends and colleagues I would gladly repeat it - I'm already planning a visit to the new brunch at Divani Apollon Palace.
