The perfect trip for me? Great company, delightful journey and luxurious stay.
The adventurous side of a trip can't be compared to anything - I enjoyed my last Road Trip so much that I decided to repeat it this summer - but what is definitely beyond any comparison is enjoying the unparalleled services offered by a luxurious hotel.
And by this, I don't refer to the all-inclusive types of hotels that keep you day and night locked inside their walls. My kind of hotel is the one where you choose to stay in, just so you can enjoy the luxury of the services and activities offered. My years of changing one hotel room after another and carrying my suitcase along the corridors, made me put a comfortable accomodation high on my priorities.
And it definitely is.
That inspired to look for the top hotels in the world - they're actually so many and so amazing all of them, I wouldn't be able to include them all. I did enjoy reading about all of the 100 hotels suggested by Condé Nast Traveller, as voted by guests of course - and after that, I made my top 5.
Here they are - partly. Of course, there's a Part B' coming up.
1. St. Regis Resort, Bora Bora Resort, French Polynesia.
I've been craving a visit to this hotel for so long - no wonder why it made it first on my list or CNT's list. Luxury here comes in turquoise hues and it is everywhere you look. Exotic, relaxing, unique - call me greedy but I do need a full-month of doing-absolutely-nothing there. It features 4 different restaurants, so there's something to look forward to.
2. Hyatt Regency Danang Resort and Spa, Vietnam.
A hotel built next to the Marble Mountain, facing the ocean might be the strongest excuse to plan a trip to Vietnam soon. Small details makes the difference; it features one of the most well-organised baby-sitting services in the world with kid camps beautifully arranged within its territory. I don't actually need it for now but these kind of details separate good hotels from great ones.
3. Hotel Astoria, St. Petersburg - Russia.
Saint Petersburg - a magnificent city filled with history and architectural memories from the great times of the tsars. While the Hermitage Museum could be recognised as one of the city's most incredible landmarks, same goes for this hotel. Located near St. Isaac's and having Davidov restaurant serving russian luxury in 5 courses, it is a characteristic example of the melancholy vibes you get from this amazing city.
4. Ritz Carlton, Shanghai - Pudong.
"The most spacious and luxurious rooms you'll find in China"; that's how the description opens and I'm here to confirm. My stay during my last trip in China offered me this incredible viewand not just that - located in the city centre, next to the most in and expensive shopping street (of course), it features amazing restaurants with both asian and european cuisine and the most breath-taking view.
5. Belmont Savute Elephant Lodge, Chobe National Park - Botswana.
"The epitome of Rustic Elegance" - a hotel located near Savute River, designed on the concept of living in a natural camp. You can watch lions, elephants and antelopes through your window and still experience the luxurious, nature-friendly accomodation. A great reason to start planning a trip to Africa!
