When travel meets fashion, we expect nothing less than a match made in heaven. Especially when that includes 5-star hotels, gourmet restaurants and a fashion icon in charge of all the luxurious details. Chanel and Fendi's Creative Director, the one and only Karl Lagerfeld, revealed a secret that will make every travel and fashion enthusiast more than excited to hear!
The internationally acclaimed fashion designer, artist, photographer, publisher and fashion icon finally decided to expand his successful business and break into the Hospitality Industry. For those loving Luxury Hotels and specifically those featuring a unique design and a one-of-a-kind fashion signature, the news are super-exciting!
The German designer's unparalleled talent goes beyond the fashion limits.
In his earlier career, he gained valuable experience working for some of the greatest fashion designers in Paris such as Pierre Balmain and Jean Patou. By the time he designed his personal collection, everyone in the fashion industry was crazy over his designs – his mini skirts were only the beginning to a career of controversial designs and unconvential styles. He had a mind of his own - a visionary, eclectic and extra-talented mind that managed to shine and stand out of the average crown.
In 1964 he took over the french fashion house Chloé where he slowly managed to incorporate his unique style and refined charm into the house's haute couture collections. His personality shined through each one of the pieces as well as his alternative lifestyle. His career at Chloé soon came to an end as, according to Lagerfeld himself, he felt a lack of enthusiasm following the brand's evolvement and overall management.

What he really needed was to create. To create something incredible, something of his own.
When he took over Chanel, he showed the world his incredible skills not only as a fashion designer but as a businessman too. He managed to revive a classic brand and incorporate a modern twist to its timeless elegance with ready-to-wear fashion pieces – the result was a huge success and Lagerfeld was established as a Major Fashion Icon. He made several collaborations with other significant fashion brands such as Diesel and H&M before finally starting his own brand – while remaining the Head Desiger of both Fendi and Chanel.
A man who firmly believes that success comes with hard work and creativity comes with productivity, a man that certainly deserves our admiration and respect for the course of his career. Having built an empire and lately his personal brand, he decided to take his career a step further and reinvent himself once again, entering the hospitality industry. And well, when you are Karl Lagerfeld and you make such a "big time" move as he would say, you deserve a separate post to share the news to the fashionable crowd.

His unique lifestyle and unconventional point of view leave their fashionable mark on hotels, restaurants, private clubs and villas, upgrading them to the Karl Lagerfeld level of style. I am sure that this new beginning will be more than succesful since he always says that "You have to think first, before you propose something". Karl Lagerfeld follows the footsteps of fellow designers Armani, Bulgari and Versace who have already launched suites and hotels but It's only a matter of time before the Chanel designer becomes an acclaimed Hotel Icon too.
He has already designed the Karl Lagerfeld Suite for the Schlosshotel Grundewald in Berlin, as well as the Odyssey - a series of 15 glass panels representing Odysseus' journey for the Hotel Metropole Monte Carlo. This was just beginning.
The 6-star Karl Lagerfeld Hotel in Macau comes next. Innovative new ideas and projects will follow with the designer ready to get a taste of success once more. The Karl-Touch travels all over the world with him being incomparable, untouchable, incredible, unique.
The recipe for success as he told Vogue is to:
"Don't let your feet touch the ground"
"Don't let your feet touch the ground"
If I had a reason to admire his work, now I have even more. Success is quaranteed when you have a vision - when you believe in your yourself and know that, in the, end you'll make it. Thank you Karl!
