The OMEGA Boutique in Athens celebrated the 60th anniversary of the iconic Speedmaster with a special exhibition featuring vintage OMEGA watches.
The unique collection, featured two one-of-a-kind vintage pieces, straight from the OMEGA Museum in Switzerland, along with several variants of the timepiece from collectors and fans of the Speedmaster collection.
Τhe OMEGA Speedmaster is much more than a professional timepieces collection . Worn by astronauts, military pilots, explorers, athletes, actors and a global community of fans around the globe. The Speedmaster was part of the Apollo 11 mission to the moon in 1969 when Buzz Aldrin worn it on the lunar surface and since then it was popularly known as the Moonwatch.
It has been over 50 years since the timeless chronograph became a crucial part of all lunar and space missions. In 1965, the watch succesfully passed all of NASA's environmental and operational tests and it was officialy issued to all manned space missions.
I joined the celebration, shared the astronauts' experience on earth, enjoyed gourmet molecular cuisine and incredible cocktails as I explored the unique exhibition and admired the colletive timepieces. Of course, I had to share a snap with my beloved Speedmaster!
